Now this on its own isnt too bad but when you then have a 3 year old clothes and a 10 year old clothes ( which are nearly as big as mine ) you start to seriously struggle. So this year i am determined to travel light.
I have only purchased a few bits for myself so far:
Tan dress from Dorothy Perkins
Cream Maxi dress from ARK
Khaki Shimmer Bikini from Matalan
I have come to the conclusion that i don't need a whole load of new clothes as i have a lot already that have hardly been worn. I am also trying to take more dresses, 1 piece outfits for the evenings which takes up less space.
Oh yes and the biggest thing. Take less shoes and toiletries. Eeek that is my biggest downfall when packing.
I would love to know your tips on travelling light? I will do a packing post nearer the time.
xx
Oh that maxi dress is gorgeous! I tend to overpack, depending on where I'm going. If I'm going for a while though, I just pack the essentials. That way I can pick up new products when I get there! :)
ReplyDeleteWe all like to travel light but majority of the time we tend to overpack. Like i went Amsterdam a few weeks back. And although i was going away for 5 days i packed like i was going away for more. But i like to have a variety of choice in my outfits. Just in case. I thought my bag will be more then 20kgs and it was under at 15kgs. So i was more then happy!!
ReplyDeleteI do find thou depending on the kind of holiday to pack essentials and outfits which can be worn day and night ( which you can dress up i.e by adding a kaftan you would wear at the beach but can double up as an evening outfit too)
With shoes take up to at-least 5 or 7 - A mixture of heels, slippers n flats.
CUTE DRESSES! You know, lately I've been underpacking and I tend to regret doing so. haha. BUT, my last trip, I think I did an ok job of packing. For extra clothes, limit it to shirts. As for shoes, I pack at more two pairs. Usually I just wear one, and pack another...but yes....GOOD LUCK with the rest of your packing! :]
ReplyDeleteThe maxi dress is gorgeous! I always over pack but thats because i pack items of clothing and i know when i get there i won't want to wear that specific item so i put back-ups in haha! Toiletries are a definite downfall for me too, i just take too many lotions and potions and make up-when i hardly wear any on holiday anyway! :/

Love the maxi dress! I have had to get better at packing light lately due to always flying crappy RyanAir with all their stingy baggage restrictions... I recommend choosing a colour palette for your clothes so that you can wear the same accessories/shoes/cardigan/jacket etc with a lot of different outfits. A dress takes up a lot less room than all the extras! For toiletries, I have a set of small bottles and tubs (you can get them in Boots, Superdrug etc) and I decant my favourite products into them - usually this is the right amount for about a week, any more and I suppose you have to take the full size ones.
ReplyDeleteThat maxi dress is so beautiful, love the color :) I always do the same thing haha, good luck on your packing sweetie :)
ReplyDeleteLove Christine ♥
i have the same problem! i buy minis in batiste and deep conditioner but take full size everything else. For make up i take my essentials for base and then a few bright shadows and lippies. No palettes just individuals. She wise I take a beach flip flop, a dressy jewelled sandal and a pair of tan wedges that go with everything. My downfall is the belt and jewellery situation i have to make sure every outfit is accesorised correctly xxx have a fab time!!!
ReplyDeleteI suck at traveling light. One time only I managed to do it, when I came to the US, just because I'm planning on buying a sh*tload of stuff, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the cream maxi dress! It's very cute
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies, it seems a few of us struggle with the whole packing thing.
ReplyDeleteSome great suggestions that i might have to try. Thanks girlies x
The maxi dress is fab! Shoes wise, I always pack one pair of silver/golden sandals and one pair of black ones, sandals or flip flops. And one pair of trainers if you're going to do some walking around and if the weather is bad. Make up wise, I take my UD Naked Palette, tinted moisturiser, one cream blush, mascara and lipbalm, Done!
ReplyDeleteMy dad went to america with the clothes on his back and a pair of spare undies in the tesco bag that contained a book and snack.
ReplyDeleteBut that only really works if you plan on buying clothes there to bring back cheap.
I love the cream maxi. Super gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteI really like the tan Dotty P dress! Do you know roughly how much/whether it is still on the website...........may just have to buy it myself :P Thanks love great post as usual xx
