Sometimes i think we all concentrated a bit too much on the latest product out there when the real gems are sat in our makeup bags. I've used this product for years and it never disappoints me. Surely that is the ultimate test?
Mac Shell
The product is a pale beige with a pinky tone. Unblended it looks very frosty and shimmery. I get lots of comments when i wear this as a highlighter. RRP £13.50
When blended in it gives a beautiful sheen to the cheekbones. I like to apply this with my fingers or sometimes a brush.
The colour is so pretty that i often use it as a highlighter on my brow bone or in the inner corners of my eyes on a night out. I also sometimes add a tiny amount to the cupids bow on my top lip to give a bit of an oomph to my lips.
I also think the price is quite good as it lasts so long. I love to glow and i don't feel right with a totally matte face. I hate full on shimmer as well so this is the perfect medium for me.
What do you think? Do you have any of the Cream bases from Mac? Tell me your favourite highlighter.
That looks lovely. I have trouble finding a nice highlighter as some of them tend to have a ton of glitter in them. I want to glow not sparkle. Is this one glitter free? xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jude, its not glitter free although when its blended you cant see any glitter as such. If you want a glitter free highlighter i can recommend the Clinique up lighting liquid illuminator. It comes in 4 shades. They are gorgeous and def give more of a subtle sheen with no glitter xx
ReplyDeleteMy favorite highlighter is Bobbies Brown Shimmer Brick, pricey I Know but it last for ages and it's not glittery...I haven't this but the creamy texture is interesting and the price of course makes the difference...thank's for the review!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you very nie as a highlight:)
ReplyDeleteThis look really nice, you look as gorgeous as ever! Have a good weekend xx
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite highlighter too!! Before my blush, I apply this -with my fingers- at the upper side of cheeks, on my nose and over my brows and I glow! =)

Hi Nicoletta, thanks for the recommendation, I will have a look at those next time I am shopping xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI must add this to my MAC list!
That looks amazing on your skin, gives a really nice and natural looking sheen. I have't tried any of the MAC cream bases, I tend to mainly go for powder products as I'm worried of looking like an oil slick, but one day I might give them a go.
ReplyDeleteYou are so pretty! The highlighter flatters your cheekbones. XX
ReplyDeleteI am your new follower do check out my blog :)

I like a nice glow-y look as well and also hate lots of shimmer. I should try this out, too then. I've been trying a lot of powder highlighters lately with no luck. Hope this ones a winner!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely, have just re-discovered the joys of highlighter after giving it up in my 20's, I love a bit of a glow too, using New Cid powder at the mo but the cream & liquid highlighters look lovely too and maybe a bit more subtle than powder. xx
ReplyDeletewow love the color and you look pretty. love your skin :)
ReplyDeleteim your new follower hoping to be followed back by you

It looks a bit '70s disco' in the pan/ unblended but beautiful applied! I don't use cream highlighters since my pores are massive and highlighting them with a cream product would be tragic! However, I do love MAC 'Nylon' eyeshadow to highlight eyes and cheeks and MAC 'Vanilla' pigment for the cheeks :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks amzing. I use high beam by benefit buts its a bit blah. Might give this a go when high beam runs out :) xxx
ReplyDeleteRight you've persuaded me to get this! I have 'pearl' and love it, so I'll hopefully love this just as much. Thanks for your great review xx
ReplyDeletewow shell looks so beautiful on you! i wonder if it would work on NC40s...
ReplyDeleteWow this looks stunning on you :) xx
ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous! I only started experimenting with highlighters recently I bought MeMeMe's Moon beam and Sun beam and they're quite nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone once again for all your comments xx
ReplyDeleteSilkenthreads, i do think it would look good on NC40 but obviously it would stand out a bit more. It blends beautifully though so i'd give it a go xx
I think that the Cream Colour Bases are one of the best products MAC has ever produced - Fawn is my favourite, a fab cool bronze which is great as a contoour when I can be bothered (which is once in a blue moon) Hush is good as well. Shell looks beautiful though, they are very subtle but really work. Thanks for this. Jan x
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered about this - you are totally selling it to me, it looks gorgeous! x
ReplyDeleteI love shell and it looks great on you! It's one of my favorite highlighters along with Benefit Highbeam and Urban Decay Cream Highlight in Sin.
ReplyDeletelooks great on u love it!i hav been searching4a great highlighter 4a while, want to try that one&Nars Albatross
ReplyDeleteI have that pearl as well, but find that I really love Sephora's Luminizer in the little pump bottle. It comes out like a gel, but blends into a cream =) It's really nice product =)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
